This should be a good battle between Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev at the ATP World Tour Finals on Monday.

The two recently met in the Final of the ATP Paris Masters and it was Medvedev who took the title from that match.

Will the Russian be able to record his first ever win in the ATP Finals, having failed to do so on his debut last year?

Daniil Medvedev Preview – Russian arrives in form

Russia’s Daniil Medvedev arrives in a nice bit of form for Monday’s ATP Finals opener against Zverev.

Two two recently met in the ATP Paris Masters finals with Medvedev winning in three sets.

He had dropped a tight first set, but then launched a fantastic comeback, winning the next two sets 6-4 6-1 to get the title.

So that was a big boost of form ahead of the ATP Finals.

At this year’s US Open Medvedev reached the semi finals, again showing why he is one of the best young players on the ATP Tour.

We are interested in the head to head for tennis betting in this one.

Medvedev trails 1-2 against Zverev from previous indoor meetings.

The overall head to head between the two of them sees Medveved trailing 2-5, with that recent win in Paris getting the Russian his second win over the German.

But those two wins have come in the last three meetings.

Is that the kind of high profile result that could see Medvedev change the course of things against Zverev?

The Russian is the 4/6 odds-on favourite to win Monday’s match* (odds taken 21:29 GMT on Sunday, 15th November).

Zverev made his ATP finals debut last season and lost against Stefanos Tsisptias, Rafel Nadal and Monday’s oponnet Zverev.

But he arrives in much better shape than he was 12 months ago.

2019 was the big breakthrough year for the Russian who had played and lost in an epic Grand Slam final in New York against Rafael Nadal.

Medvedev reached six consecutive tournament finals last year and was just looking a bit burned out by the time the ATP Finals came around.

Not quite so this time after a shorter season.

We see a tight match and could consider a 2-1 set betting option on Medvedev* (odds taken 21:29 GMT on Sunday, 15th November).

Alexander Zverev Preview – Can Zverev focus in on the win?

Germany’s Alexander Zverev looked to be in prime position to win his first ever Grand Slam title this year.

He was 2-0 in the final of the US Open against Domionic Thiem but just couldn’t close out the match and ended up losing.

With an early exit then at the French Open, the German will have to wait for another chance to secure that elusive major.

Zverev did return to form with that excellent run at the Paris Masters in early November, scoring an impressive straight sets win over Rafael Nadal in the msei finals.

The German is the 6/5 underdog in the match outright for Monday* (odds taken 21:29 GMT on Sunday, 15th November).

He has been having some distractions off the court and you wonder how much that will be affecting his performances at the London tournament.

In last season’s ATP Finals, Zverev reached the semi final where he was beaten by Dominic Thiem in straight sets.

Alexander Zverev has taken only one of the last three matches against Zveerev, having won the first four.

So that does suggest a little bit that the tide is turning.

In the game handicap market for tennis betting on Monday’s match, a Zverev +1.5 option is at 5/6 because he is expected to stay close to the Russian* (odds taken 21:29 GMT on Sunday, 15th November).

That having been said, only one of the seven previous meetings between Zverev and Medvedev have gone the distance.

Daniil Medvedev vs Alexander Zverev Betting Advice

Not only because of the recent Paris Masters win over Zverev that Medvedev took, but because of just looking sharper overall, we think the Russian is the way to swing.

Medvedev at 4/6 in the match outright isn’t a bad option, but we think that we can squeeze more and just go Medvedev 2-0 in set betting at 11/4* (odds taken 21:29 GMT on Sunday, 15th November).

The way that he fought back to get the win in Paris after having dropped the first set was impressive.

Key Facts – Daniil Medvedev vs Alexander Zverev Betting Tip

  • Daniil Medvedev beat Zverev in last weekend’s Paris Masters Final
  • Daniil Medvedev is 1-2 only against Zverev in previous indoor meetings
  • Alexander Zverev is 5-2 in the head to head with Medvedev

Medvedev is a lot sharper than he was at this time last season in the finals and we recognise him as a big threat.

He has taken two of the last three matches against Zverev now and there have been distractions away from the game for his German opponent.

So we see Medvedev as the favourite to win this match.
