It’s big boxing betting action that we have to look forward to on Saturday night from Manchester with Derek ‘Del Boy’ Chisora in action.

The British fighter goes into a rematch against Joseph Parker for the WBO Intercontinental heavyweight title.

That was what Parker claimed when he beat Chisora earlier this year by a split decision.

Will the rematch go the distance too?

Derek Chisora Preview – Can ‘War’ turn the tables on Parker?

Derek ‘War’ Chisora faced up to Joseph Parker in May this year for the then-vacant WBO Intercontinental heavyweight title.

Chisora had come racing out of the blocks in that one.

Within the first ten seconds of the fight, Chisora had planted a big right on Parker, sending his opponent to the canvas.

Chisora was the one on top through the early stages of the fight. But he couldn’t finish the job.

In the end, Parker turned things around in the second half of the fight and Chisora was defeated by a split division.

It was seen as a controversial decision.

For boxing betting on the weekend, the win for Chisora is at a quote of 2/1 outright* (odds recorded at 21:27 GMT on December 14th, 2021 at Bet365).

Can Chisora get some revenge?

To be fair he did do a lot right in the early stages of that first meeting. Chisora kept tight to Parker, not giving his opponent time or room to launch attacks.

But Chisora couldn’t sustain it and was gradually worn down over the second half of the fight.

That will be a big concern for the 37-year-old.

Does Del Boy have the legs to the distance again? He probably does but the longer the fight goes on the less effective he is likely to be.

Chisora’s loss against Parker followed a defeat against Oleksandr Usyk in October last year.

With Usyk going on to beat Anthony Joshua, that suddenly didn’t look worst of results.

Chisora lasted the last twelve rounds against Usyk.

But it’s hard to see Chisora doing enough if this does happen to go the distance to take the decision.

His best route to success is probably by a knockout, but Parker’s not an easy one to stop.

Joseph Parker Preview – Parker can hold his own

Joseph Parker knows the business well and the 29-year-old New Zealander enters the fray as the clear favourite.

His win over Chisora in May gave Parker his fifth straight fight win.

It’s been a good recovery from him, basically working his way back up the ladder.

In 2018 Parker had missed a couple of big title shots.

The first was a loss to Anthony Joshua, Parker losing his WBO heavyweight title in that one.

His follow up fight that year happened against Dillian Whyte for the WBO International heavyweight title and was beaten.

But Parker did go the distance in both of those.

As mentioned, he is back on track since those upsets and looking sharp.

In the match tonight for boxing betting, there is a quote of 4/11 odds-on for the Parker victory* (odds recorded at 21:27 GMT on December 14th, 2021 at Bet365).

Once Parker was able to get himself on his back foot and create room against Chisora, he looked comfortable.

There is the feeling that if Parker avoids any early flurries on the weekend, then he will outlast and outscore Chisora.

Parker’s got a great jab and he can use that for the benefit of gaining distance.

We don’t see a stoppage coming in this one.

Parker’s last two fights have gone the distance.

So the Parker by Decision or Technical Decision boxing betting option is the pick at 6/4* (odds recorded at 21:27 GMT on December 14th, 2021 at Bet365).

There’s a lot at stake in this one for Parker.

Win and he’s likely going to be made the mandatory challenger to Usyk for the big WBO heavyweight title.

Derek Chisora vs Joseph Parker Betting Advice

Parker should have the beating of Chisora once again, as he can stick in there and pick off his open.

The New Zealander should have learned a lot from that first fight about his opponent.

It’s basically get the jab working, keep Chisora at distance and grind him down.

We think that is what happens.

Parker by Decision or Technical Decision boxing betting option is the pick at 6/4* (odds recorded at 21:27 GMT on December 14th, 2021 at Bet365).

One quibble is that the Kiwi lacks a bit of finishing quality from his game.  He really should have finished Chisora off early.

Key Facts – Derek Chisora vs Joseph Parker Betting Tip

  • Derek Chisora has lost his last two fights
  • Derek Chisora lost to Parker on a split decision in May
  • Joseph Parker have won his last five fights

At 29 years old, Parker still has a lot in front of him and he has done well to get back up the ladder and be within a shot of becoming the WBO mandatory.

That should happen if he sees off Derek ‘War’ Chisora again. Which he should.

This isn’t the type of fight that he should be losing now.

There were times during that first fight in May that Chisora looked spent and badly lacking stamina.

The 5/6 quote on boxing betting for the fight to go the distance is the selection* (odds recorded at 21:27 GMT on December 14th, 2021 at Bet365).
