Onto Group K, and things are evenly poised ahead of match day four with my next tip featuring joint second placed Dynamo Kiev taking on third placed Rennes as the betting tips continue on Thursday night.
Just two points separate the hosts and Rennes and although they suffered a 2-1 defeat away at runaway Ukrainian Premier League leaders, Shakhtar Donetsk on the weekend, Dynamo Kiev return to their NSK Olimpijs’kyj for Thursday night’s clash with Rennes.
This may well be a significant point in this group as Dynamo Kiev had ground out an excellent 1-0 win away at Rennes last time out, and they’ve suffered just one defeat from their last eight Europa League ties on home turf, which also includes a 2-2 draw with Astana.
Goalscoring midfielders Verbic (3 goals) and Tsygankov (4 goals) look the biggest threat for the hosts.
Rennes have recorded just the one win so far in Group K which was a 2-1 home win over bottom club, Czech Republic side Jablonec, but have since suffered back-to-back defeats to Astana 2-0 away from home and the aforementioned 2-1 loss to tonight’s opponents, Dynamo Kiev.
The French side are not renowned for their positive results away from home in this competition either as they’ve lost 8 of their last 10 on their travels in the Europa League. Brief respite occurred with wins at Metalurgi Rustavi and Red Star, but both of these wins were registered some seven years ago when they last appeared on the European stage.
Rennes recorded a 1-0 win away at Caen on the weekend in the French Ligue 1 but my betting tips suggest that this is a big step up for the visitors here, and advise using the handicap on Dynamo Kiev in this clash.
