Everton will look to continue their resurgence under manager Sam Allardyce on Monday night when they take on struggling Swansea City at Goodison Park with an unbeaten run of four league matches now under their belts.
With three wins from these last four matches, which include victories over West Ham, Huddersfield Town and Newcastle United (all to nil I might add), The Toffees have well and truly pulled themselves out of any immediate danger of a relegation dogfight, and another three points this evening would see them move into 9th place and a point behind Leicester City.
Everton’s home record now reads a much healthier looking 5-0-3 14/12 having won their last three on the trot at Goodison Park, and the belief and confidence amongst the squad is now very evident for all to see.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for a struggling Swansea City outfit who now find themselves bottom of the Premier League following another defeat on the weekend, where they were on the end of a 4-0 hammering against runaway league leaders, Manchester City.
To be fair, Swansea would admit that they weren’t expecting to get anything out of that match, but it’s been their poor results against the teams around them down near the bottom end of the division that have really hurt them; defeats to Watford, West Ham, Brighton, Burnley and Stoke City and a draw at home against Bournemouth would have all been games that they’d have fancied taking at least a point from.
As it is, they earned just the one in a 0-0 draw at home with Bournemouth, and although they beat West Brom at home recently, their away record stands at a poor 1-2-5 4/8, which includes losing their last five on the trot on the road.
