Freiburg – Bar already high after Augsburg trouncing?
The Breisgau-Brasilianer were, quite literally, among the biggest winners as domestic football returned last weekend. The action got underway in three of Europe’s ‘big five’ leagues, and of these teams, only Bayern Munich and PSG recorded wider margins victories than the 4-0 scoreline inflicted upon Augsburg by Christian Streich’s men. Dortmund actually created enough to have scored more, tallying more xGF than Freiburg managed in their rout of Augsburg. It is probably too early to read anything into this – whether profligacy could become a regular theme in the absence of their former Norwegian scoring supremo – but, having shipped two goals on all three recent visits to Freiburg, BVB must sharpen up in search of their fourth straight Bundesliga win.
