Fulham Prediction

After having suffered four defeats on the trot amidst growing audible discontent amongst the Fulham faithful, Sunday’s hosts parted ways with manager Claudio Ranieri whose challenge to keep Fulham up in the Premier League proved to be too much for the Italian.

Former player, Scott Parker, takes over the reigns until the end of the season and his first task is to make Fulham more competitive as they’ve recently slumped to losses against Crystal Palace 2-0, Manchester United 3-0, West Ham 3-1 and Southampton 2-0 – the latter seeing Fulham fold in embarrassing fashion.

Fulham sit second from bottom in the Premier League and find themselves 10 points adrift of Southampton and safety ahead of this local derby with Chelsea. However, there have been signs that the hosts could get something from this clash with a home record of 4-3-6 17/26 which includes recent wins over Huddersfield Town and Brighton.

The hosts have also held Leicester City and Wolves to draws, both in 1-1 stalemates, and they might just fancy their chances of causing an upset here against a Chelsea outfit who have had their own problems recently.

Key-Facts – Fulham v Chelsea

  • Chelsea have lost their last 3 away matches on the trot
  • Chelsea have conceded a total of 12 goals in their last 3 away matches

Chelsea Prediction

Chelsea responded in impressive fashion to last weekend’s penalty shoot-out loss to Manchester City in the League Cup final which was overshadowed by the controversy surrounding manager Maurizio Sarri and goalkeeper Kepa, as The Blues registered a vital 2-0 win over London rivals, Tottenham during the week.

Kepa had refused to be substituted in the final with reserve keeper Caballero waiting on the sidelines, but Caballero finally replaced the impetuous Kepa against Tottenham and could once again be between the sticks for this clash.

Chelsea’s recent results have been fairly sketchy as the visitors have recorded wins against Huddersfield Town, Malmo (in home and away legs in the Europa League) and Tottenham, but have also suffered defeats to Manchester City 6-0, a 2-0 loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup and the loss to Manchester City in the recent League Cup final, albeit on penalties.

Away from home though, Chelsea have shown signs of vulnerability as they’ve lost their last three matches on the road on the trot with losses in the Premier League at Arsenal, Bournemouth and Manchester City, losing 2-0, 4-0 and 6-0 respectively.

This means that Chelsea have conceded a total of 12 goals in their last 3 away matches, so Sarri needs to plug the leaks quickly if the visitors are to claim at least a Europa League spot.

Betting Tips Verdict

Fulham looked down and out against Southampton but a new manager at the helm might just spark a response here. Back Fulham with the handicap here.
