Fulham – Quality still absent in attack?

A sixth consecutive drawn encounter wasn’t to be for Fulham (W2 D6 L9), who had provided west London neighbours Chelsea with enough meaningful resistance to limit the scoring to only one goal, but not enough to avoid a ninth loss of the season. Their cause clearly not helped when American full-back Antonee Robinson was dismissed for a reckless lunge shortly before half-time that will see him serve a suspension.

The Cottagers are now without a win versus fellow London sides in 19 Premier League matches, a run stretching back to 2014. They are also now winless in seven top-flight fixtures of this term – all of which featured fewer than three match goals – stretching right back to late November, when Scott Parker’s men produced a big upset to turn over Leicester City, now third in the table, at the King Power Stadium.

Victory over table-toppers Man Utd would rank even better. For that to happen, though, Fulham would need to double their win tally at Craven Cottage for the season, having won only one of nine home outings thus far (W1 D3 L5). That a 2-0 scoreline against 19th-placed West Brom on 2 November. They would also have to score a first home goal in four such games, last netting here in a 1-1 stalemate with Liverpool.

Manchester United – Firm favourites to extend long undefeated run?

The Red Devils, having done so well to nullify champions Liverpool at Anfield last time out to preserve their place at the Premier League summit, could find themselves in second prior to kick-off at Craven Cottage. A win for Man City in the evening’s early fixture would see Man Utd (W11 D4 L3) demoted to second ahead of their clash with Fulham, an opponent they have tended to swat aside in recent times.

Since Fulham’s last victory in this fixture, a 3-0 win at home in December 2009, United have won nine of eleven subsequent top-flight meetings. That includes a pair of dominant victories the last time The Cottagers were in the Premier League, winning 4-1 at Old Trafford and 3-0 here in the capital during the 2018/19 campaign. Paul Pogba netted a brace in the latter and had the best chance at Anfield as well.

The goalless draw with Liverpool maintained Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side’s exceptional away record in the top-flight, which now stands at sixteen unbeaten (W12 D4) having won seven of nine so far this term, scoring at a rate of 2.44 goals. Meanwhile, all but their recent 1-0 win at Burnley was achieved despite conceding first, claiming more points away from home from losing positions (18) than any other team.

Fulham Vs Manchester United Betting Advice

Scott Parker had ‘nothing but admiration’ for the manner in which his players ploughed on in the face of numerical adversity last time out, only denied what would have been a sixth consecutive draw by a rare error from goalkeeper Alphonse Areola. The Frenchman has played an integral role in this Fulham side conceding only four times in their past six league games, while each of the last eight have gone Under 2.5.

Fulham Vs Manchester United – Key Facts:

  • Since their last Premier League win (1-2 vs Leicester on 7 Nov), all seven Fulham fixtures have featured no more than two goals.
  • Man Utd are now 12 Premier League games without defeat (W9 D3), and haven’t lost on the road in sixteen matches since losing 2-0 at Anfield to Liverpool in January (W12 D4).
  • The Red Devils are also targeting a fifth successive victory at Craven Cottage in the league, with three coming by a margin of at least two goals.

After shipping at least one goal in all of their first seven away league games, Man Utd have kept back-to-back clean sheets against Burnley (0-1) and Liverpool (0-0). Fulham, for all their newfound resilience and doggedness, are struggling to put the ball in the back of the net, doing so three times in their last seven Premier League outings. So if a United win is too short a price, an away win to nil makes sense (7/4 BetVictor).
