Can Aspinall recover from setback?
There was a heavy loss last week for Nathan Aspinall who was taken out 7-3 by an inspired Peter Wright. Aspinall was just shy of a 100 three-dart average in the match, but Wright was just unplayable on the night.
Still, it has been a good campaign from the Englishman with a W3 L2 record so far. The loss against Wright saw the Asp miss the chance at three straight wins. Considering this is his debut season, that’s not a bad return.
Aspinall has the lowest-tally of scores of 100+ (under 140) in this year’s campaign. Be he has been efficient. His last two wins over Michael van Gerwen and Glen Durrant were both by a 7-5 scoreline.

Anderson needs a fightback performance
At last weekend’s UK Open, Anderson went deep into the sixth round. That was a positive return having suffered a Premier League defeat to “challenger” Luke Humphries in Exeter on the Thursday before.
That was the first time a “challenger” had ever won a match against a Premier League player in the competition. It left Anderson with a W2 D1 L2 record in the league this season and has to be seen as a massive two points dropped.
Anderson’s wins in this season’s campaign happened on weeks 1 and 4. As a positive he jointly holds the record with Peter Wright for the most 180’s nailed in this season’s competition (17). The finishing hasn’t always backed up his scoring.

No player has scored more 100+ throws than Anderson has done in this season’s Premier League so far. So that side of his game is fine. He will immediately be back under pressure as he takes on Aspinall on Merseyside, especially having dropped the last two meetings with the Asp.
