Getafe recently loved up into 6th place on the La Liga ladder thanks to a 2-1 win away at La Liga strugglers Villarreal, and they now host 5th placed Deportivo Alaves in this evening’s ‘six-pointer’ in the European spots, but are four points adrift of the visitors ahead of this clash.
Getafe have lost just once in their last seven matches in the Spanish top flight which was an excusable 2-1 loss at home to league leaders Barcelona, but the hosts have ground out some encouraging results in recent weeks aside from that defeat.
Wins over Espanyol, Real Sociedad and the aforementioned Villarreal along with picking up points in draws against Athletic Bilbao, Leganes and Girona have helped Getafe occupy a possible Europa League qualifier berth.
The hosts will be keen though to improve an inconsistent looking home record which stands at 4-1-4 9/6, and with forwards Angel (5 goals) and Mata (4 goals) along with new signing Saiz from Leeds United, Getafe will be reasonably confident of getting a result at home tonight.

Deportivo Alaves have emerged as one of the surprise packages in this season’s Spanish top flight season as the visitors currently occupy 5th place in La Liga which has been largely built upon a solid record at their Estadio de Mendizorroza.
Deportivo Alaves still remain unbeaten on home turf and it’s been their form at home which has assisted with their great start to this campaign in the top flight following last season’s finish of 14th in the league table.
However, Alaves possess an inconsistent record away from home this season with a 4-1-5 11/13 recored on their travels to date. In recent weeks, Alaves have struggled for results on the road as they’ve gained just one away win from their last five matches.
That win came in a 1-0 victory at Real Sociedad but defeats at Eibar, Leganes and Atletico Madrid came in quick succession, and they’ll do well to get something from this clash I fancy.
