Group J is shaping up to be a three-horse race between Sevilla, Krasnodar and Standard Liege for the two knockout qualifying spots, and my next pick sees Krasnodar taking on Standard Liege as the betting tips continue.
It appears to be advantage Krasnodar ahead of Thursday night’s clash with the Belgian side Standard Liege as the hosts have won their last three Europa League ties at their Stadion FK Krasnodar on the trot with wins against Lyngby, Crvena Zvezda and Sevilla.
Another three points here this evening in Group J would be a big boost for the Russian club as they seek to emerge from the group stages and into the last 16. Krasnodar have various goalscoring options with midfielder Claesson (5 goals), Wamberto and Suleymanov (3 goals apiece) as well as Ari (6 goals).
Standard Liege started their Europa League campaign in disastrous fashion as they suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat away at Sevilla on match day one, but the visitors have since recovered to record back-to-back wins against Akhisarspor and Krasnodar.
However, both of these recent wins were registered at their Stade Maurice Dufrasne while results away from home haven’t always been so convincing in recent times; just two wins from their last 12 matches on their travels in this competition underlines the problems they’ve had.
In addition, just two clean sheets within this 12-match sequence suggests that Standard Liege are likely to concede again here on Thursday night, and with Krasnodar’s attacking threat and home turf advantage, my betting tips advise a home win here.
