Wilson the narrow favourite in Masters duel
This is the fourth master’s appearance by Kyren Wilson. Sandwiching two first-round exits, he made that wonderful run to the final in 2018. He was beaten there by Mark Allen. Wilson still has only the one ranking title in his career, but the 28-year-old remains an exciting prospect.
The question is when will he actually move up into the higher tier of winning tournaments consistently? The peak of his form in the 2019/20 season so far, came with a semi-final at the World Open. He did reach the final of the non-ranking Paul Hunter Classic as well. Because Wilson has not really gotten up and going this season, this should be a tight contest.

Lisowski does carry somewhat recent form into the Masters. He only made his debut at the tournament last year and fell at the first hurdle. After a very quiet season from him, like Wilson struggling to get consistency going, he came good at December’s Scottish Open.
Cheltenham’s Lisowski got to the final, losing to Mark Selby, but took good wins over the likes of John Higgins, Mark Allen and Thepachaiya Un-Nooh along the way. That may have boosted his confidence going into the winter break.
