Leicester City will be keen to get their season off the mark at their King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon when they take on newly promoted Brighton from the Championship, despite a very spirited performance that ultimately ended in defeat last week.
The Foxes lost out to Arsenal in a seven-goal thriller last week at The Emirates in the curtain raiser to the new Premier League season, but there were plenty of positives for Craig Shakespeare’s side even though they left with nothing to show for their efforts.
Leicester City can now approach this new campaign with no pressure, and if the likes of Vardy and new signing, Iheanacho, can start firing up front, then Leicester should at least attain a top half position in the top flight this season.
Visitors Brighton lost their opening game of the season in the Premier League in a 2-0 defeat at home to Manchester City in a result which was expected as the newcomers look to get to grips with this massive step up from the Championship.
It’s been a long wait of 34 seasons for Brighton’s return to the big time, and manager Chris Hughton deserves all the plaudits for bringing a club that were once on the brink of liquidation some years ago, up to the Premier League to rub shoulders with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.
Brighton will be mindful that they need to make their AMEX Stadium a fortress, and to pick up points on their travels if they’re to consolidate their top flight status this term, but they look a little light up front with an ageing Glenn Murray spearheading their attack. Midfielder Knockaert is expected to be up against his old team mates here.
