Leicester City will be relieved to be returning to their King Power Stadium for Thursday night’s clash with Tottenham following a run of away matches for The Foxes in what can only be described as a ‘quirk’ in the Premier League fixture scheduling.
Five of the last six matches for Leicester City have been away matches for the east midlands club, and in retrospect, it was very fortunate that they had that five match winning streak when manager Craig Shakespeare first took over the reigns, as they may well have struggled to avoid a relegation dogfight otherwise.
The five away matches saw Leicester pick up just one win which was a 1-0 win at West Brom, but their home form has sen them win six of their last eight amidst an overall record of 10-3-4 29/18, and a win on Thursday night would lift them up into the top half of the division.
Visitors Tottenham guaranteed themselves of the runners-up position behind title winners Chelsea when they saw off Manchester United in a 2-1 win in their last ever home match at White Hart Lane, and they deservedly take their place in the Champions League for next season.
It has been a tremendous season for Spurs who eventually lost their title race with Chelsea when they were beaten 1-0 away at West Ham recently, but 10 wins from their last 11 matches overall in the Premier League indicates how far they’ve come and where they now sit in the English top flight pecking order.
They will therefore be confident they can carry this momentum into Thursday night’s clash at Leicester, and with striker Harry Kane (22 goals) still vying for the league’s Golden Boot (he’s just 2 goals behind Everton’s Lukaku), I believe they’ll hit the back of the net this evening.
