Following recent back-to-back defeats at Watford and Liverpool respectively, Leicester City have responded well with a 3-0 home win over Huddersfield Town and took a point at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea in a 0-0 draw.
Leicester now return to their King Power Stadium for this Saturday’s clash with an out of sorts Watford side whose last win in the Premier League was against this afternoon’s hosts, Leicester City. Back to Leicester, and they’ve lost just once in their last five on home turf which was a 3-0 loss to a resurgent Crystal Palace outfit.
Nevertheless, wins over Tottenham, Burnley and Huddersfield should give The Foxes plenty of confidence of taking three points here. Forwards Vardy (9 goals) and Okazaki (6 goals) are well supported by Mahrez (7 goals).
Watford still sit in a comfortable mid-table position in the Premier League, thanks mainly to their strong start to the season which saw The Hornets lose just once in their first eight league matches of the new term, picking up wins over Bournemouth, Southampton, Swansea City and most impressive of all, Arsenal.
Since then, however, their early season form has eluded them as they’ve picked up just three further victories in their subsequent 15 matches, which includes 10 losses. Although their situation isn’t too bad at the moment (as they hold a valuable six point cushion ahead of the bottom three), the rot can quickly set in if not turned around sooner rather than later.
An away record of 4-1-6 17/17 isn’t too bad either, but it should be remembered that much of Watford’s good work on the road was achieved before the Christmas period.
