Saturday brings us further action from the Premier League and our next preview features the evening clash between Liverpool and Arsenal with the top two teams going head-to-head as the betting tips continue at Anfield.
Liverpool Prediction – Can Liverpool lay down marker?
Having jostled with Manchester City for the league title throughout the majority of last season’s campaign, Liverpool find themselves up against joint-top Arsenal at Anfield in this Saturday’s evening kick-off for the right to see who moves top of the Premier League this weekend.
The hosts have made an impressive start to this new top flight campaign as Liverpool have gained back-to-back victories against newly promoted Norwich City 4-1 at home, and then followed that up with a 2-1 win on the south coast at Southampton.
Although they registered a vital 3 points in last weekend’s win at Southampton, Liverpool didn’t have it all their own way and had to see out a nervous 10 minutes or so at the end of the game after former striker, Danny Ings, got one back for The Saints.
However, Liverpool now return to home turf to their beloved Anfield this Saturday where they’ve won 15 of their last 16 matches, and remained unbeaten from their last 41 matches in the Premier League which is an excellent record indeed.
Liverpool also hold a good record at home against Arsenal as The Reds have won their last 3 on the trot at Anfield and are unbeaten in their last 6 matches on home turf against The Gunners.
Arsenal Prediction – Can Arsenal stay in early race?
Arsenal have also made a good start to their new Premier League campaign as they’ve picked up back-to-back wins against Newcastle United 1-0 away at St James’ Park and then followed that up with last weekend’s 2-1 home win against Burnley at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners now face an early test of their potential title and top four credentials as they make their way up to merseyside to face an impressive Liverpool outfit who have an excellent record overall at Anfield, where they have held the upper hand over Arsenal in recent meetings.
Having beaten Burnley 3-1 on the final day of last season, Arsenal bring a 3-match winning streak into this important Saturday evening kick-off, but their achilles heel last season was their failure to string together wins on their travels.
The visitors gained the second least amount of away wins amongst the teams that finished in the top 7 of the Premier League last season (just 1 win ahead of 7th placed Wolves), so if they take all 3 points at Anfield today, this would be not only a shock, but a massive result for Arsenal.
