Whilst some eyebrows may have been raised over the appointment of former player, Mikel Arteta, as successor to former Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, Arteta has instilled a more stubborn and resilient looking outfit as The Gunners seek to extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League to nine matches.
A previous and most welcome 2-0 home win against Manchester United ended a worrying run of four matches without a win for the London club, and although this was followed by a spate of stalemates (four in total) against Crystal Palace, Sheffield United, Chelsea and Burnley, these results undoubtedly helped steady the ship.
Arsenal subsequently won their last three matches on the trot in the top flight with victories gained over Newcastle United, Everton and West Ham (all of which were at home), but The Gunners have been tough to beat on the road too as their record of 2-8-3 14/16 indicates – and includes a seven-match unbeaten run too.
