The 1st legs of the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League continue on Thursday night and our next preview features an encounter between Norwegian club, Molde and Greek outfit, Aris, as the betting tips continue at the Aker Stadion.
Molde Prediction – Can Molde stay fresh?
The Norwegian hosts seemingly have more than just home advantage over their Greek counterparts ahead of this 1st leg on Thursday night.
Along with being in their own backyard at their Aker Stadion, Molde also have the advantage of being halfway through the Eliteserien season.
Molde have enjoyed a successful campaign so far this term as they sit top of the Norwegian top flight with a 4-point lead over 2nd placed Bodo/Glimt.
This is largely thanks to winning 7 of their 8 home matches so far this season in the top flight along with impressive earlier wins in the Europa League too.
A 1st qualifying round 7-1 aggregate win over Icelandic side, KR, was settled in the 1st leg where Molde recorded the 7-1 victory at home.
They followed that up with a 3-1 aggregate win against Serbian outfit, Cukaricki, which was notable due to their away result.
Molde were held to a 0-0 draw but registered a 3-1 win away in the 2nd leg to progress through to this 3rd qualifying round tie with Aris.
As well as being unbeaten in their last 11 matches at home in all competitions, Molde are also undefeated in their last 7 home ties in the Europa League.
Aris Prediction – Can Aris build on previous round?
Following a narrow 1-0 win on aggregate over Cypriot side, AEL Limassol, Aris take their place in this 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League.
The visitors appeared to have missed their chance in the home leg as they were held to a 0-0 draw but a 1-0 win in Cyprus secured their passage to this round.
As mentioned earlier though, Aris are still in between seasons and have had to make do with a few pre-season friendlies to keep them focused.
However, although they faced quality opposition, Aris didn’t fare well during these warm-up matches and they may have done the visitors more harm than good!
A 5-1 loss to Fortuna Sittard was followed by heavy 3-0 defeats at Gent and PSV respectively, although they did save their blushes with a 2-1 home win against Atromitos.
With just 2 wins out of their last 8 matches away from home though, this 1st leg tie in Norway looks a tall order for Aris.
In addition, the Greek visitors have registered just 3 away wins out of their last 14 away ties in the Europa League which doesn’t instil much confidence in them here.
