Newcastle United’s unexpected 2-0 win away from home at high-flying Everton on the weekend not only handed the Magpies a valuable three points but it also ended a miserable sequence of results for the north-east club.
The hosts had endured a woeful nine-match run without a win in the top flight which consisted of seven defeats and two draws with Newcastle also failing to score in five of these nine matches as well, so to score two goals away at Goodison Park will serve as a welcome boost for Steve Bruce’s side.

Palace’s only other win in recent weeks was a 2-0 home win against the bottom club, Sheffield United, but both of these wins have been registered at home while results away from home have continued to err on the disappointing side for Roy Hodgson’s men.
With just one win out of their last seven matches away from home, Palace look far from a guaranteed win up in the north-east, especially as they’ve failed to score in each of their last three outings on their travels.
