North Queensland Cowboys Preview – Can the Cowboys buck their slump?

Things have gotten tough for the North Queensland Cowboys. They suffered a 20-36 loss against the Wests Tigers last weekend, their third straight defeat in the Premiership.

Troublingly, the Cowboys have conceded at least 26 points in each of their last three as well. That leaves the Cowboys on a W2 L4 record for the campaign so far.

One positive for them is that they have been scoring very well. They are the current third-highest scorers in the league at the moment with a tally of 143.

But then you look at their defence which has shipped a tally of 149 points in matches. That leaves them with a -6 points difference this season and they are just leaking points currently.

 

The two wins that the Cowboys have managed to take this season were against the Titans and the Bulldogs, the current bottom two in the league.

But they did collect a narrow 20-18 home win over the Knights last season. That had actually completed a four match winning streak against the Knights.

But then came a big crash for them in the second meeting of last season when they were smashed 6-42 by the Knights.

There was a good 27-6 win for the Knights last weekend over the Brisbane Broncos. That left the Newcastle Knights in second place in the ladder.

They look the real deal at the moment and look likely to collect another win in this fixture. They have tallied 149 points this season in matches, second only to that tally of the Roosters.
