It is another Grand Slam Final and another appearance in one from Novak Djokovic.

He came up trumps in the big moments of a tough semi-final duel with Denis Shapovalov to keep his dream of a title defence alive.

Standing in his way is Matteo Berrettini who has created history by becoming the first Italian to reach the Wimbledon Final.

Novak Djokovic Preview – Djokovic looks for 6th Wimbledon title

Novak Djokovic has a chance of a title defence then at Wimbledon on the weekend. Another one.

If he collects it, that will be for the third edition running and it will be his sixth in total.

This is turning out to be some year for Novak Djokovic who has won both the Australian Open and French Open titles this year.

Never before has he won those two plus Wimbledon in the same year.

In the match outright for tennis betting on the weekend, Djokovic is 2/9 odds-on for the win* (odds taken 23:09 GMT on July 9th 2021).

In his semi-final match against Denis Shapovalov, Djokovic was given a really tough time.

The only thing that separated the two players was in the key moments when Djokovic’s consistency didn’t waver.

He went on to win the match in straight sets, which is remarkable because Shapovalov was superb.

But that’s Djokovic in a nutshell. He’s so hard to defeat when the pressure is on.

In that semi-final, the Serbian retained his run of not having dropped a set so far in this year’s Wimbledon campaign.

Novak Djokovic has met Matteo Berrettini twice before and has won both of those fixtures.

The first of them was at the ATP Finals in 2019, which is nothing really to judge.

But the other was at this year’s French Open and Djokovic did drop a set in that one.

For a bit of potential tennis betting value a Djokovic 3-1 win in Set Betting is at 13/5* (odds taken 23:09 GMT on July 9th 2021.

When all’s said and done, Djokovic is on a different level in the Grand Slam. He’s not even played great in this campaign and yet here is in the final two.

Matteo Berrettini Preview – Can Berrettini pull off the major upset?

The crowd wasn’t particularly with Novak Djokovic in his semi-final match. The larger support is probably going to go to Berrettini on Sunday as well.

Will that help the Italian get over the line and cause a big upset by beating Djokovic?

The match outright odds on the win for Berrettini is at 19/5* (odds taken 23:09 GMT on July 9th 2021.

So the bookies don’t necessarily think so.

But if there is one form player around this year who is capable of this, it is Berrettini.

Ahead of Wimbledon, Berrettini had posted a 26/6 win/loss match record for the season, collecting two ATP titles along the way.

It’s been a hugely positive form for the 25-year-old, who is currently ranked 9th in the world.

This is the first time that he has been to a Grand Slam final, so enters uncharted territory.

His previous best effort at Slam was as a semi-final exit in the 2019 US Open.

Now, what can he do about Djokovic?

Matteo Berrettini has seen off two seeded players on his run to the Wimbledon Final.

That was against Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarter-finals and then against Hubert Hurkacz in the semi’s.

Against Hurkacz, who had taken out both Alexander Zerev and Roger Federer in the draw, Berrettini won in four sets.

A Berrettini +5.5 Games handicap is at 10/11 for Wimbledon tennis betting* (odds taken 23:09 GMT on July 9th 2021).

This is only the third appearance in the main draw for Berrettini.

He hadn’t been past the fourth round in either of the previous two, can he extend this amazing journey and get his hands on the silverware?

A Djokovic 3-1 set betting option is the play for tennis betting at 13/5 odds* (odds taken 23:09 GMT on July 9th 2021.

That’s only because he was rattled by Shapovalov and Berrettini could pose big questions as well.
