Real Betis Preview – Great entertainers if not always great winners?

An excellent league campaign from the club who were promoted out of the Segunda Division at the end of last season. Topping the standings in October, after six wins through the first ten rounds of fixtures, was undoubtedly a highlight but their recent upturn in results is also worthy of praise, bouncing back from a mid-season slump to effectively stave off any lingering doubts regarding safety.

Confidence will understandably be high. Even more so after the impressive manner in which they overturned Friday’s contest with a tricky opponent around. However, caution is advised when backing Granada in their remaining away fixtures. Just the three wins were registered across their fourteen away matches so far (W3 D3 L8), and between October and February lost eight straight without so much as scoring.

The hosts could sure do with a lift after Friday’s insipid performance at neighbouring Sevilla. Having beaten Real Madrid in their last home encounter, Real Betis have every right to believe they can atone at home to a poor travelling Granada side which has lost eight of its last eleven away matches in La Liga.
