Real Madrid are in a familiar position after the international break as the league leaders take on a Celta team still looking for their first win of the season.

Real Madrid Preview – Will Real continue their strong start to the season with another win?

Carlo Ancelotti’s second spell in charge of Real Madrid looks like being just as entertaining as first time around. No team has scored more goals than the Bernabeu club (eight in three games) whilst they have conceded half that amount. Real have beaten Alaves and Real Betis but had Vinicius Junior to thank for rescuing a point against Levante. Scores of 4-1, 3-3 and 0-1 indicate what we can expect from this group of players throughout the season – tremendous inconsistency.

All three of those matches have been away from home as the final touches were made to their refurbished home. The match against Celtic will be the first time Real have played at the Santiago Bernabeu since the 1st of March. It will be an emotional homecoming.

Famed for his free-flowing football with Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo spearheading the attack six years ago, the Italian has reunited two of that trio with the Welshman being brought in out the cold. It’s Edin Hazard who will have the first opportunity to take up the wide left role on a regular basis but Vinicius has scored three in as many games so will be pressing hard for that starting spot.

Ancelotti’s biggest prize in his first spell was the Champions League and he will lead Real in that competition against the champions of his homeland, Inter, on Wednesday.

Celta Vigo Preview – Can Celta secure their first three points of the season and a rare win at the Bernabeu?

It’s been a disappointing start to this season for Celta and their head coach Edouardo Coudet. The Vigo club have taken only a point from their first three games and sit third bottom. Clearly their current position is not the issue so early in the campaign but there are some concerns about their overall performance.

They’ve managed just one goal in three games (no surprise that was the veteran Iago Aspas) and despite playing champions Atletico Madrid in the first game, a trip to play Osasuna and hosting Athletic Bilbao are games you would expect them to pick up more points from.

Finishing in eighth place last season was arguably an overachievement for Coudet’s men, particularly as they avoided relegation the season before by a single point. A top half finish would be the realistic objective this term but they could well be bottom of the table after Sunday considering the strength of their next opponent.

It’s one of the smallest squads in La Liga and although there is some talent within it asking the likes of Aspas and Nolito (both now 34) to provide their main threat could well be a risky strategy over the course of another season.

Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo Betting Advice

It will be an emotional return to the Bernabeu for Real Madrid and they will be hoping to cap it with a win and maintain their time at the top of the table. Ancelotti’s style of football will bring with it entertainment but as we’ve seen it will also give the opposition chances.
Celta will hope that’s the case as they need a change of luck after their start.

Key Facts – Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo Betting Tip

  • Ancelotti’s return to Real has been promising with seven points from their first nine games
  • Celta’s only point so far this season has come in a goalless draw against Osasuna
  • Real have won six of their last seven against Celta and unbeaten in the last 10 meetings

Real will be boosted playing in front of their supporters in their newly refurbished home. Celta have not carried a threat so far this season and having lost six of the last seven against Real, it is likely to be another defeat in this match.
