Sevilla still sit in fifth spot in the Spanish top flight despite recent defeats away at Real Madrid and Real Sociedad, but they now return to their Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán fortress on Saturday night to take on Real Betis.
Sevilla remain unbeaten on home soil so far in this La Liga season with a solid record of 6-2-0 13/3 which includes five clean sheets as well as scoring two goals or more on five occasions in their eight home matches to date.
And although their results away from home have been pretty ordinary, Sevilla’s performances at home have helped lift them into european contention for next season, and they’re just two points adrift of fourth placed Real Madrid.
By contrast, Real Betis’s season has been disappointing as they occupy 14th place in the La Liga ladder, having registered just one win from their last eight matches overall, which was a 2-0 win away at second from bottom Malaga.
Three defeats from their last four against Las Palmas, Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao tells its own story, along with Real Betis’s ordinary looking away record which stands at 2-1-5 8/16 despite that recent success at the aforementioned Malaga.
A lack of goals on their travels has been the main problem for Real Betis, and along with having lost each of their last five meetings with Sevilla in all competitions, they’ve also lost their last three matches on the trot in Sevilla’s back-yard, which doesn’t bode well for the visitors here.
