Sheffield United Preview – Can Blades avoid fifth defeat on trot?

A four-match losing streak certainly hasn’t done Sheffield United nor manager, Chris Wilder, any favours as they continue their fight against relegation from the Premier League but time is running out fast and The Blades’ situation is becoming ever more bleak as they now trail fourth from bottom Newcastle United and safety by a significant 15-point margin.

Recent defeats to Chelsea, West Ham, Fulham and Liverpool have been the latest losses which have moved Sheffield United closer to the relegation trap-door in the Premier League and although they’ve picked up wins against Newcastle United and West Brom, 10 losses in 13 matches at home tells its own story.

Indeed, Sheffield United have lost 11 of their last 14 matches at Bramall Lane and they lost their last meeting against Aston Villa 1-0 away back in September.

Our betting suggestion:
Both teams to score

Aston Villa Preview – Can Villa knock on the door?

Although Aston Villa dropped down to 9th place in the Premier League table, the visitors secured a valuable 1-0 win away from home at Leeds United on the weekend and another three points in this clash against Sheffield United would move Dean Smith’s side to within two points of 5th placed Chelsea.

Plenty of incentive then for the west midlands club ahead of this important encounter and although Villa have produced some inconsistent results of late, the visitors look the more likely to find a way to collect the three points than their hosts, following recent wins over Southampton, Arsenal and Leeds United.

Villa have also made a better fist of things away from home too this season and they bring a three-match unbeaten run into this midweek tussle and perhaps just as important, three clean sheets on the trot.
