To say that a 7th placed finish at the end of last season was disappointing is a measure of how far Wolves have come under manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, as the west midlands club narrowly missed out on the final European spot which eventually went to Tottenham.
An eight-match unbeaten run from the start of February through to the end of June (with lockdown in between), seemingly gave Wolves a great chance of a top a six finish but three defeats in their last six matches of the season prevented Wolves from making another appearance in the Europa League.
The visitors also failed to win any of their last three matches away from home of last term, losing at Monday night’s opponents, Sheffield United 2-0 and a 2-0 loss at Chelsea, with a 1-1 draw at Burnley in between, while 12 of Wolves’s 19 away matches also resulted in under 2.5 goals.
