Slavia Prague – Will Slavia’s strong recent home record continue?

Slavia Prague have been regular visitors to this stage of European competition in the last few seasons. They reached the quarter-finals of last year’s Europa League before losing heavily to Arsenal in the second leg. Two years before that, they were eliminated at the same stage by another Premier League club in the shape of Chelsea – who went on to win the competition.

Slavia’s European run this season started with a couple of disappointments, however. A 2-1 aggregate defeat at the hands of Ferencvaros ended their hopes of playing Champions League football whilst they narrowly lost out against Legia Warsaw in the playoff round of the Europa League. It means they turn their attention to this competition and they remain in the hunt of being the first ever club to win it.

Slavia’s group stage in this competition started pretty poorly as well, though. They lost two of their first three games including against Feyenoord. Taking five points from their last three games was enough to see them qualify, however, finishing second behind their Eredivisie club.
Their knockout performances have been much more convincing. They have seen off Fenerbahce 6-4 on aggregate before an equally entertaining 7-4 success against LASK in the previous round. Including the first leg of this tie, Slavia have scored 16 goals in five knockout matches so there’s no questioning their attacking prowess at this level.

Feyenoord Preview – Can Feyenoord respond after disappointment of late equaliser?

Arne Slot’s appointment as Feyenoord coach promised to be an exciting one for the Rotterdam club and it’s certainly proved that way with a potential big end to the season. They’re favourites to finish third which is probably the best they could hope for considering the form of Ajax and PSV. Slot and his players are also, obviously, one game away from reaching the last four of a European competition.

Feyenoord’s participation in the Conference League started all the way back in July. They had to see off Drita, Luzern and Elfsborg to even reach the group stage. A second loss to the Swedish outfit is their only defeat in 15 games thus far, a tie in which they had won the first leg 5-0.

Having finished top of the section and by a considerable margin, Feyenoord came into the knockout phase at the last-16 stage where they thrashed Partizan 8-3 over two legs.

It has been a terrific campaign to date but there will be a feeling of ‘what if’ if they are unable to at least reach the semi-final stage. With PSV on the other half of the draw it adds further motivation for them to potentially set up an all Dutch final.

Slavia Prague vs Feyenoord Betting Advice

A repeat of the first leg would be ideal for any neutral tuning into this game. Six goals, two lead changes and an equaliser in the fifth minute of added time made for plenty of entertainment. Feyenoord remain unbeaten against Slavia this season heading into their fourth meeting and the previous games have produced 13 so there is plenty of reason to expect goals.

The winner of this game will face either Marseille or PAOK in the semi-final and it is the Ligue 1 outfit who have the advantage heading into the second leg of that contest.

Key Facts –  Slavia Prague vs Feyenoord Betting Tip

  • Slavia Prague won their last six at home including victories over Fenerbahce and LASK in this competition
  • Feyenoord have scored in 20 of their 23 away games so far this season
  • The winners of this tie will play either Marseille or PAOK for a place in the final

Goals looks to to be the way to go in this game. Feyenoord’s game in the competition from the group stage on wards average 3.8 per game whilst Slavia’s average goals per game is even higher at 3.9. Over 2.5 looks a solid selection as a result.
