Saturday evening brings us what promises to be another cracker between Tottenham and Manchester City at Wembley Stadium with Pep Guardiola’s men on the cusp of bringing home another top flight title.
However, Tottenham may well have other ideas than to hand City the league title here as Spurs have registered six league wins on the trot, as well as putting together a strong 14-match unbeaten run in the top flight, as the hosts also look to keep fifth placed Chelsea at arms length with just six matches remaining.
Tottenham hold a solid record at Wembley despite the critics in the early season questioning whether Spurs were missing their ‘spiritual’ home of White Hart Lane, but Tottenham have responded in emphatic fashion with a home record of 10-4-1 31/9 so far. Strikers Kane (25 goals) and Son (12 goals) have been a constant thorn in competitors’ sides this term.
Manchester City are experiencing something of a mini crisis by the standards that they’ve set this season as the visitors have lost their last three matches on the trot in all competitions with defeats to Liverpool (home and away in the Champions League), as well as a Premier League local derby loss to Manchester United.
To make matters worse, Pep’s side had taken a seemingly strong 2-0 lead over United, and were looking every bit the title holders until they succumbed to a 32- defeat to their neighbours, much to the glee of the opposing team’s fans.
City are therefore by no means guaranteed of taking all three points here either, and I fancy Tottenham will push them all the way here as the tension grows for Manchester City.
