Watford Prediction – Can Watford get off the mark?

Despite an encouraging set of results in Watford’s pre-season preparations leading up to the start of this new Premier League campaign, the Hornets have got off to the worst possible start to this term having suffered early back-to-back defeats in the top flight.

A surprising 3-0 loss at home to Brighton on the opening day of the new season was bad enough, but Watford’s early season woes continued last weekend when they were handed a 1-0 defeat away at Goodison Park against Everton, leaving the hosts bottom of the table.

What is more worrying, perhaps, for Watford manager, Javi Gracia, is the fact that his side have failed to hit the back of the net in these two matches, but they have a chance to rectify things when West Ham visit Vicarage Road this Saturday.

Watford have scored in 10 of their last 13 home matches which gives them a decent chance here – the only problem is that also 9 of Watford’s last 13 home matches, both teams have scored.

As Watford have yet to really get going, it’s advisable to stay away from the win markets, but the statistics point towards the goal market for this clash.

West Ham Prediction – Can West Ham register first win?

With only 1 point from their first two league matches of this new Premier League season, visitors West Ham have fared marginally better than Watford as they gained their first point of the new term in last weekend’s 1-1 draw away at the AMEX Stadium against Brighton.

This was a much better result for The Hammers who themselves had been under the hammer in the season opener against Manchester City, as they were dealt a 5-0 thrashing on home turf at their London Stadium in their first home match of the season.

West Ham now make the relatively short trip to Watford this Saturday in a match where they’ll fancy taking at least a point from, especially as they finished last season in positive fashion with back-to-back wins away from home to end on a high note.

Wins at Tottenham 1-0 and today’s opponents, Watford, in an emphatic 4-1 victory will still be fresh in West Ham’s minds and will no doubt give them a boost ahead of today’s clash at Vicarage Road.

Key-Facts – Watford v West Ham

  • 9 of Watford’s last 13 home matches have seen both teams score
  • West Ham won the last encounter against Watford 4-1 away from home
  • 2 of the last 3 meetings at Vicarage Road have seen both teams score

Betting Tips Verdict

Both Watford and West Ham have made ordinary starts to this new season and both will fancy their chances of all 3 points here – both teams to score in this one.
