It looks all over for Norwich in their efforts to stay in the Premier League but Watford will have few better chances of picking up three points as they aim to survive.

Watford Preview – Can Watford end their dire run to record a first win in six games?

It’s somewhat of a surprise that Watford remain outside the bottom three despite having failed to win any of their games since the Premier League resumed. Nigel Pearon’s men have lost their last three and taken just a point from their last five games. Ironically, their last victory was the resounding 3-0 win at home to Liverpool on the last day of February.

It would be hard to imagine then that they would be looking for their next win but in truth they have been dire. It’s only fortunate that the teams below them have been every bit as bad and they still hold a one point advantage.

The positive impact that Pearson’s appointment had initially is now a distant memory and they are going to have to find some big performances and results in their final five games. This marks the first of three home games for them but with an improving Newcastle and Manchester City to follow, this is by far their best chance of getting a win.

Pearson’s men are coming off the back of a disappointing 3-0 defeat away to Chelsea having lost 3-1 at home to Southampton in the match before. They’re going to have to defend better here.

Norwich City Preview – Will Norwich pick up a rare victory to prolong their hopes of staying in the league?

It was always going to be a struggle for Norwich to survive in the Premier League following promotion, and it appears it’s only a matter of time before they return to that level. Defeat to Brighton on Saturday was their fifth straight loss in the league and they have not scored a goal in any of them. It’s a dismal run and a far cry from some of the highlights earlier in the campaign.

Daniel Farke’s team are seven points from safety with five matches left. A win here would give them hope but it’s difficult to have any confidence in them at all.

A major issue for Norwich all season has been the paucity of goals on their travels. They currently have six goals in 16 away games which is the lowest in the league. The lowest tally for a full season is eight and it would be no surprise to see them take that unwanted record in their current form.

Teemu Pukki earned a lot of plaudits for his contributions in the first half of the season but the Finnish striker has not scored in his last nine appearances. It shows how much they have relied on Pukki for their attacking play.

Watford vs Norwich City Betting Advice

This is a clash between two teams who have struggled all season – both for wins and goals. Watford have failed to score in 15 of their 33 matches, a record only second to their opponents who have not scored in 16. Failure to score goals is always liable to lead you to struggle.

The 2-0 win for Watford at Carrow Road back in November was their first win of the campaign and another victory against this opponent would be hugely important to them staying in the league.

Key Facts – Watford vs Norwich City Betting Tip

  • Watford are looking to complete the double over Norwich having won 2-0 at Carrow Road earlier in the season
  • Norwich have lost their last five Premier League games without scoring a goal
  • Watford and Norwich have failed to score in more games than any other side, with 15 and 16 blanks respectively

Norwich can give themselves hope with a win that would close the gap to four points between themselves and Watford. However, their away form is deplorable and whilst the home team are also in dire form, this will be their cup final and can take what would be a vital three points.
