West Ham Prediction – Can West Ham start new era with win?

It’s a New Year and a new era at the London Stadium as former boss, David Moyes, has returned to West Ham, replacing the former coach Manuel Pellegrini who was sacked following West Ham’s 2-1 defeat at home to Leicester City last time out in the Premier League.

Although Moyes helped steer West Ham away from possible relegation a couple of seasons ago, it seems a curious choice to appoint the Scot again at this stage of the season as it suggests this is another ‘band-aid’ solution and an attempt at a quick fix rather than a long-term appointment.

Anyway, Moyes’s first job is to stop the bleeding and the spate of defeats that The Hammers have had to endure in recent times; indeed, West Ham have lost 9 of their last 12 matches in the Premier League and their recent loss to Leicester City has left them precariously perched just 1 point above the relegation zone prior to the New Years Day action.

West Ham’s form looks even worse when switching to results at home as the hosts have lost their last 4 home matches on the trot amidst an overall poor home record of 2-1-6 12/19. To back West Ham for the straight win here would be risky, but 6 of West Ham’s 9 home matches to date have seen both teams score.

Bournemouth Prediction – Can Bournemouth take advantage?

Bournemouth are another side who have struggled for wins in recent times as the south coast club head into the New Year having collected just 1 win out of their last 9 matches, with their one success coming in the shape of a highly unexpected 1-0 win at Chelsea.

However, this has been the exception rather than the rule of late for Eddie Howe’s side as The Cherries have lost 7 of these last 9 matches which puts them in a similar form category as that of their opponents on Wednesday night, West Ham.

Bournemouth have also lost 5 of their last 7 matches away from home too within a poor away record of 3-1-6 10/14, so they too are by no means guaranteed of picking up all three points either.

5 of Bournemouth’s 10 away matches have seen both teams score but the visitors may well be eyeing off this fixture as an encounter which they can get something out of, especially as Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last 6 meetings against West Ham, winning 3 of these 6.

Key-Facts – West Ham vs Bournemouth

  • West Ham have lost 9 of their last 12 matches in the Premier League
  • 6 of West Ham’s 9 home matches to date have seen both teams score
  • 5 of the last 6 meetings between West Ham and Bournemouth have seen both teams score

Betting Tips Verdict

A new manager at a club usually brings an upward spike in results (at least in the short term) while Bournemouth will see this as an opportunity to end their dismal run.
