The 2013 Snooker World Championship has finally gotten a sponsor title. The prestigious snooker event, which starts on April 20th, has been searching for a sponsor to partner up with. It was only on Monday though, that snooker supremo Barry Hearn announced that it would be online betting exchange Betfair who would be taking up the mantle.

“We are thrilled to welcome Betfair as title sponsor for the first time,” Barry Hearn said.

“They have shown tremendous support for our events this season and the exposure they have already gained for their brand on a worldwide scale has been phenomenal.”

The Crucible in Sheffield hosts the famous event and it has been given the added attraction of reigning champion Ronnie O’Sullivan coming back to defend his title. O’Sullivan has been absent for the last twelve months in the top ranking tournaments throughout the season, and there was some doubt as to whether or not he would be back at the World Championships. But he announced that he would end his exile and return to the Crucible.

O’Sullivan has played just once since beating Ali Carter in last year’s World Championship final. Despite his absence, O’Sullivan is still many people’s favourite to on and take a fifth World Championship title.
