Gamers take over the World Championships

There will be a Virtual Betfred World Snooker Championships to fill in the gap. The tournament will feature sixteen players battling it out on the video game Snooker 19.

The virtual Snooker World Championships will be hosted on the same dates as the physical tournament was due to be played.

It will feature 16 of the world’s top snooker players and they will be represented by some of the best Snooker 19 game players in the world.

The winner of the Virtual Snooker World Championships will get to lift up a real trophy at the Crucible, whenever the real tournament gets played later this year.

All matches will be broadcast on the WST Youtube and Facebook channels. The players in the game will be seeded for the draw, based on current world ranking seedings.

2020 Snooker World Championship winner odds*

The betting market for the outright winner of the 2020 Snooker World Championship (the real-world one) is still available at bookmakers.

It is Judd Trump, who set a new record this season for the most ranking tournaments ever won by a player in a single season (a tally of six) who is the outright favourite.

Trump is also the reigning World Champion after getting the better of John Higgins in last year’s final, and he is at 5/2 at the head of the market* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 03:03 GMT on Saturday, April 11th 2020).

That was the first success at the major for world number one Trump. As for John Higgins it was a defeat in the final of the World Championships for the third straight year.

Ronnie O’Sullivan and Neil Robertson are the joint 9/2 second favourites to lift the 2020 edition of the tournament* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 03:03 GMT on Saturday, April 11th 2020).
