Brave punter lands huge acca bet

It’s always good to hear of a win for a punter and there was a big one in Cork last weekend. The Paddy Power punter placed a late bet on Friday night, which was an incredible €16 10-leg accumulator. It started off with a win for Sevilla on the road at Langanes and that was a game in which the punter had to sweat as well, because Sevilla didn’t pop up with a winner until five minutes from time.

But that set the ball rolling and with Chelsea easing to a win over Leicester on Saturday lunchtime, things were off to a great start. Then there was a victory for the punter in four Saturday afternoon matches (Arsenal, Newcastle, Derby and Barcelona). That was it for the football selections in the acca because the remaining four were all riding on the horses in this cross-sport punt.

Boreham Bill made it seventh from seven for the punter with a win in 4.30pm at Market Rasen, followed by Presenting Julio landing the win in the 5.30pm at Stratford. This is probably the point where a punter would be considering a cash out option. Waneen just managed a win by a head in the ninth leg of the bet, leaving everything on the shoulders of Munawer in the 7.45pm at Wolverhampton.

It was an easy win for Munawer in the end and just before 8pm, the punter’s returns had reached a whopping €46,347.

Things could have been even better for the punter, who narrowly missed out on an even bigger accumulator, a €20 12-fold, which included two football draws, for another €230,197. However, 11/10 shot Beast of Burden let him down in the 3pm at Ffos Las.

When asked about the win spokesman Paddy Power said:

“This crazy acca was more creative than Arsenal’s midfield, so fair play to the Cork man for landing it. He may have cost us a tidy sum but we can only congratulate him and hope that he enjoys his winnings.”

The Cork putner, who chose to remain anonymous said there was “a bit of science” behind his bet.

“I’d be clued up on soccer and racing so there was a bit of science behind my selections and I thought I’d take a chance on the crazy acca,” said the Cork punter.

“I was over at a mate’s for the for the final race and when it came in we went mental. Many beers were drunk, I’m still recovering today!”

“I was a bit sad the other bet didn’t come it, but I’m delighted with the win.”
