France v Argentina Rugby World Cup Predictions & Betting Odds – 21st September 2019

France can take out the Pumas

Rugby World Cup Preview – 8.15 am kick-off

What a meaty clash this is going to be in the first round of pool stage action from the 2019 World Cup. These are two of the big dark horses in the tournament. The French remain unpredictable but stacked with potential. The Pumas had some good performances at the Rugby Championship this year and are more than capable of an upset.

France v Argentina Preview

It looks as if the World Cup has come at least a year to eighteen months too early for France. They are a work in progress. The positives for them is that they have a massive pack, which actually looks pretty decent. That’s not something that you have been able to say about them too often recently. But they, as you would expect, have some fantastic runners in their side now, particularly in Alivereti Raka who is just a bulldozer. New scrum-half Antoine Dupont has added a whole new dimension to their game as well as he only knows positive. When they do put it together, the French are going to be exhilarating.

Back in this year’s Rugby Championship Argentina nearly pulled off a big shock against New Zealand. They had the All Blacks rattled and did not concede a point against them in the second half of the contest. The Pumas still lost, but it was a sign of what they could do. Unfortunately for them, they couldn’t follow it up to the same level against Australia or South Africa and pretty much just went backwards. The Pumas pride themselves on their forward play. Is it up to the quality of the French at the moment? No. And if they can’t get that aspect going, they may struggle. The one advantage they may have though is being better suited to the conditions.

France v Argentina Prediction

We would side with France in this one. You never know on any given day, what you are going to get from France. But there are some very good pieces there and it’s likely to be too much for the Pumas. The humidity may level the playing field a bit, but a France -1 Handicap at 10/11 odds is value* (betting odds taken from bet365 on September 20th, 2019 at 5:22 am)
