Germany News and Form – ?

Germany have good momentum on the road to Euro 2020 and they needed this after finishing bottom of their World Cup 2018 group and in their Nations League campaign. They have won their opening three fixtures of the Euro 2020 qualification campaign, rattling off thirteen goals in total in those fixtures. It all kicked off for them with a 3-2 away win in the Netherlands. That was a big result for them because Die Mannschaft took just one point from their two games against the Dutch in the Nations League last year.

Germany are W4 D2 in their last six games (competitive and friendly). It is a four-match winning streak that the Germans are on at the moment in European Championship qualifiers as well, having scored at least two goals in each of those four victories. If you look into their home form in European Championship qualifiers only, then the reading gets even more impressive. They have won all but two of their last thirteen home qualification matches (D2) and they have suffered only one defeat in home qualifiers since November 2016.

Netherlands News and Form

It is three points from two games that the Netherlands have managed so far in Euro 2020 qualification. Because they had to take a break for the Nations League Finals, they are behind in matches in the Euro 2020 qualification campaign. They lost the final of the Nations League 1-0 to Portugal. They are just struggling for consistency at the moment are the Dutch with a W2 D1 L2 record in their last five games. After failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup 2018 that Nations League surprise group win was a huge lift for them.

But there is huge pressure on them in this one now. If they lose that will leave them a massive 9 points behind Germany. That would be a huge amount of ground for them to try and make up. It’s not only Germany that the Netherlands are trying to catch, but there’s Northern Ireland who have won their opening four games in the group too. The Dutch do at least have the cushion of a guaranteed place in the qualification playoffs if they can’t make the top two in Group C. That was their reward for topping their Nations League group.

Germany v Netherlands Predictions

Germany to win: This is a great chance for Germany to push forwards to Euro 2020. The Netherlands haven’t quite been as organised defensively as they need to be in their last few fixtures. Germany can take advantage on home soil. Home win & both teams to score.
