Half-Time Winners

Something struck me as a little bit amazing. When the home side leads at the interval it can lead to some amazing scores. I’ve seen Liverpool lead 5 – 0 at the interval and only win 5 – 1. At other times a 1 – 0 interval lead can end up 5 or 6 to nil. Now when the AWAY side leads at the interval there aren’t many such goal feasts. May be it’s because the home side has to tighten it’s ranks to safe some face. Or perhaps the home manager makes some very clever substitutions.
i’ve looked at the past two seasons in the PREMIERSHIP. and the final results of games which are 0 – 1 at half time give some food for thought.Surprisingly only around 50 games throughout the season are 0 – 1 at half-time. but each season’s returns are very similar.

SEASON 2014/15

The first half of the season had 21 such games. Of these there were no home wins. !9 away wins and 2 draws. In 7 of these games there were no further goals. In a further 7 games the home side scored once. In the second half the home sides scored total of 5 goals and the away sides scored 7 times.

19 ended as DRAWS (19%)
70 ended as AWAY WINS (71%)

What do these figures really tell us? Well, we can expect to have 9 out of every 10 matches to end as either a draw or an away win. We can expect 4 out of 5 games to end with 3 goals or less. Also 1 game out of 2 to have 2 goals or less. For the more adventurous amongst us DUTCHING 0 – 1, 1 – 1 and 0 – 2 can give a chance of a nice profit, with correct staking.
