Manchester United News and Form – Can the Red Devils make it three wins in a row?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United have had a week to remember in the Premier League. After picking up a 2-1 win against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, the Red Devils stunned rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last Sunday, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial scoring in a 2-1 win.

Man Utd got their work done early in the Europa League, reaching the last 32 with two games to spare. United picked up ten points from their opening four Group L fixtures, beating Astana and Partizan Belgrade (twice) and drawing with AZ Alkmaar in The Hague.

 

 

Solskjaer has been under real pressure this season, but United have made light work of the Europa League thus far. Having booked their place in the knockout rounds, can the Red Devils now win Group L?

AZ Alkmaar News and Form – Will the Dutch side extend unbeaten run?

Arne Slot’s AZ Alkmaar are the only team left in Group L with an unbeaten record, winning two and drawing three. The Eredivisie side will join Manchester United in the last 32 in February, but only three points will do at Old Trafford if Slot’s troops want to win Group L.

AZ kicked off the competition with a 2-2 draw in Belgrade and a 0-0 draw with United at the Cars Jeans Stadion. However, huge back-to-back wins over Astana (6-0 and 5-0) got them up and running. Alkmaar’s place in the next round was confirmed with a 2-2 home draw with Partizan last month.

The Dutch team have been in incredible form of late, winning eight and drawing one of their last nine in all competitions. They are just three points behind Ajax after 16 games in the Eredivisie. AZ Alkmaar will be formidable opponents for Man Utd on Thursday night.
