Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Besiktas Betting Tips – UEFA Europa League, 12th December 20.00pm

If Slovan Bratislava pick up a positive result against Braga, a win for Wolverhampton Wanderers against Besiktas on Thursday will see Wolves win UEFA Europa League Group K. Braga and Wanderers have already made it through to the Round of 32, but who will progress as group winners? Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are the strong favourites to do their job at Molineux.

Wolverhampton Wanderers News and Form – Nuno’s boys to end Group K with a win?

Nuno’s Wolverhampton Wanderers have had a superb maiden Europa League campaign. In a very tough-looking group, Wolves have progressed through with comfort having taken ten points from five fixtures, winning three, drawing one and losing one.

Wolves’ campaign got off to the worst possible start when they were beaten at home by Braga on matchday one. However, they went on to secure successive wins over Besiktas and Slovan Bratislava (twice). With Besiktas beating Slovan in the last round, Wolves’ 3-3 draw with Braga at the Estadio Municipal in Portugal was enough to see them qualify for the Round of 32.

Wolves have been in excellent form lately, recovering well from a slow start to their season. Since that defeat to Braga, only Aston Villa (in the EFL Cup) have beaten them. Wanderers are undefeated in 11 (five wins, six draws) in the Premier League, firing themselves into the top six. Will Santo’s in-form side pick up another victory on Thursday?

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Besiktas Head to Head

At Vodafone Park back in October, Wolves edged a tight matchup in Istanbul. The game looked to be heading for a draw, but Willy Boly’s 93rd-minute winner gave Wanderers an invaluable three points on the road. That was the first ever meeting between the two sides.

Key-Facts – Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Besiktas

  • Wolves are unbeaten in eight league and cup matches, winning four and drawing four
  • Besiktas have won eight of their last nine in all competitions
  • Wanderers have picked up seven more points than the Black Eagles in Group K

Besiktas News and Form – Can the Turkish side claim a seventh straight victory?

Besiktas, who finished third in the Turkish Super Lig last term, have been in fine fettle in recent months. Since losing to Braga in the Europa League back in early November, Abdullah Avci’s boys have won six in a row in all competitions. In the Super Lig, Besiktas have taken 22 points from the last 24 on offer.

The Black Eagles’ upswing in fortunes has come too late in Europe, though, as the Istanbul side lost their opening four Europa League Group K matches. Besiktas did, however, pick up a 2-1 win over Slovan Bratislava in their last group game, with Adem Ljajic scoring a 92nd-minute winner from the penalty spot.

Besiktas’ recent run of results just proves what they are capable of. However, they head to Molineux as the big 6/1 underdogs to leave with all three points.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Besiktas Predictions

Wolverhampton Wanderers win: Regardless of how far Nuno’s troops go in this season’s Europa League, Wolves have had a tournament to remember so far. Getting out of the group would have been first priority, now Wanderers can look forward to European knockout football in 2020.

Like Wolves, Besiktas have also recovered well from a poor start to their season. Avci’s team will be gunning for a seventh victory in a row in all competitions at Molineux on Thursday evening. The Turkish giants will no doubt give Wolves a good game, but I’m backing the Premier League side to claim a narrow win. Check out the tempting odds of 5/2 for Wolves to win by one goal on home soil.

Wolves have kept two clean sheets during the group stage, including one against Besiktas in Turkey a couple of months back. Have a punt on the hosts to win 1-0 in this one at 11/2.
