British tennis icon Andy Murray is ready to hang up his racquet soon. At a press conference on Friday ahead of the Australian Open, he said that this could be his last tournament. The tearful Scotsman was clearly emotional when talking about his future and when that pending retirement comes, he will walk away with a fantastic legacy left on the sport.

The three-time Grand Slam champion plans to face up to Roberto Bautista-Agut in his first round match at the Australian Open but Murray is the underdog against the World Number 22. Murray enters the match at 10/3 odds to win* (betting odds was taken from Paddy Power on January 11tth, 2019 at 4:32 pm)

Murray had hip surgery last year and has barely lifted a competitive racquet since then. He said in his presser that he was planning to retire after Wimbledon this year, but he admitted that the pain he has may not allow him to get to the middle of the year.

Bookmaker Paddy Power announced on Friday that they had taken 56 bets on Murray winning this year’s Australian Open.

The operator also announced that they would be paying out on all the single bets that they have received in support of Murray pulling off what was always going to be a very highly unlikely outcome.

Murray is currently 80/1 odds to win the Australian Open 2019 but the early payout that Paddy Power has issued applies to bets placed online only prior to 11:15 am on January 11th, 2019* (betting odds was taken from Paddy Power on January 11tth, 2019 at 4:32 pm).
