UEFA Euro 2021 Group F Preview
Germany to pip France to top spot?
Bookmaker Paddy Power
Odds: 11/8 odds taken 1605 GMT, Friday 14 May

UEFA Euro 2021 Group F is known as the “group of death”, with current European champions Portugal, multiple-time major tournament winners Germany, and 2018 FIFA World Cup winners France all battling to be top dogs. The matches will be played at the Puskas Arena and the Allianz Arena.

Hungary are the weakest link in Group F, though they have been World Cup runners-up on two occasions. The other three are incredibly hard to split, with all three European powerhouses more than capable of winning the group. We are in for six fascinating Group F fixtures this summer.

Latest Group F Odds – Will Germany top the lot?

Germany are the current 11/8 favourites to win the group, just ahead of world champions France. The Germans are usually there or thereabouts when it comes to pre-tournament favourites for major competitions, and Joachim Low will be hoping to end his incredible 15-year tenure as Germany boss with the Euro 2020/21 trophy.

France have a deadly attack and will no doubt be one of the nations to watch out for in the Euros. Didier Deschamps has vast experienced with this current crop of talented French stars, and Les Bleus have finished second and first, respectively, in the last two major tournaments. France are the second favourites in Group F at 13/8.

Our betting prediction:
Harry Kane top goalscorer
5/1

The fact that Portugal are third favourites just tells you how hard to call Group F is. Fernando Santos’ men shocked Europe with their win on French soil five years ago, which they followed up by winning the inaugural UEFA Nations League. Paddy Power are offering 13/5 for the Portuguese to reach the Round of 16 as Group F winners.

Hungary are the underdogs in Group F, but Marco Rossi’s men can ruffle a few feathers along the way. The Hungarians booked their place at Euro 2020 by winning the Path A play-offs, seeing off Bulgaria and Iceland. The bookies have them priced at 22/1 to win the group and just 1/3 to finish bottom of the pile.

Our betting prediction:
Portugal to reach the quarter-finals
10/11

Euro 2021: Group D Team Key Facts

  • Germany have been European Championship champions three times
  • France are the current World Cup holders
  • Portugal won UEFA Euro 2016, beating hosts France in the final
  • This will be Hungary’s first Euros appearance since 1972

Euro 2020 Germany Odds & Prediction: Die Mannschaft to go through as group winners?

As usual, Germany are one of the favourites to win the Euros. Low will resign from his post after the championship, so lifting the trophy will be a fitting end for the legendary boss. Before a ball has been kicked in anger in this summer’s tournament, you can get 15/2 for Germany to go all the way.

Die Mannschaft have won this competition three times, though the last of those was over 25 years ago. However, they have reached the semi-finals in the last two. They were also runners-up in 2008, narrowly losing out to Spain in the final in Vienna. Germany could be the team to beat in Group F.

France Euros Preview: Les Bleus to take the runners-up position?

France suffered European Championship heartache on home soil five years ago, losing to Portugal in a tight final at the Stade de France. Nevertheless, they more than made up for that woe two years later, with Deschamps guiding Les Bleus to the World Cup trophy in Russia.

France are also among the favourites to win Euro 2021. No matter what 26-man squad Deschamps chooses, the current world champions will surely go far this summer. The opening game against Germany in Munich will be a cracker and could go a long way to deciding the group winner. France are priced at just 1/16 to go through.

Euro 2021 Portugal Odds: Tough time for the current European champions?

Portugal famously failed to win a group game at the Euro 2016, drawing all three to go through as one of the best third-place teams. They also needed extra time in the Round of 16, quarter-finals and final. The 2-0 semi-final victory over Wales was their only win in 90 minutes.

Ferando Santos is still at the helm, while Cristiano Ronaldo is still banging in the goals for club and country, but beating either France or Germany to the top two places in Group F will take some doing for the Navigators. Still, they should secure their passage through to the last 16 of this pan-European tournament (1/4).

Hungary Euro 2020 Tips: Can the Hungarians cause an upset?

Unfortunately for Hungary, Rossi’s men could just be making up the numbers in Group F. They will still fancy their chances of causing one or two upsets along the way, but realistically getting out of the group will be a step too far for Magyars.

They did well to reach the Euros via the play-off route, and the Hungarians will certainly enjoy being back in the European Championship for the first time since 1972 and only the third time ever. However, they look likely to finish bottom (1/3).

Players to watch out for in Euro 2021 Group F: France’s fierce attack to shine?

Group F at Euro 2021 is glittered with world-class talent. The Germans will be efficient as ever, while France’s attack is one of the deadliest around. Portugal have the weapon of Ronaldo, who could be making his last major tournament appearance.

Kylian Mbappe, who has been excellent yet again for Paris Saint-Germain this season, is among the favourites to win the Golden Boot this summer. Teammate Antoine Griezmann finished top scorer at Euro 2016 with six goals, and the Barcelona ace is priced at 20/1 to win the Golden Boot five years on.

Ronaldo has unfinished business with the Euros after limping out of the 2016 final. The Juventus star was one of six players to finish on three goals in France to take the runners-up award. CR7 may be 36-years-old these days, but his hunger for goals remains as evident as ever.

Our Group F Euro Predictions: Germans back on top

This truly is the “group of death” at this summer’s Euros. Hungary will find it tough going, but you can make a case for all other three to win the group. The trio should reach the last 16, but who will finish top of the pile in Group F?

This is a big tournament for Germany, who will begin a new era after Low’s departure at the end of the competition. The Germans just seem to find a way to win when it really matters, and they finished top of their group at the last Euros. Germany may have had a disastrous World Cup two years on, but we are backing Low’s boys to win the group at 11/8.

The potential tussle for second spot between France and Portugal in Group F could be fascinating. The French will be out for revenge after the defeat in the 2016 final, and N’Golo Kante netted the only goal of the game when they met in a Nations League affair back in November.

We fancy France to edge out the Portuguese in the race for the runners-up spot. Back Les Bleus to finish second at 15/8 and Selecao to finish third at the same price.
