Ukraine found themselves a nice bit of form back in the Nations League. They claimed a win in three of their four games in their Nations League campaign. The successes were against the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Ukraine has suffered only the one loss in their last eight fixtures now, and six of those games in that sequence were competitive ones. Ukraine collected a very good point for themselves in their first Euro 2020 qualifying game. That was a 0-0 draw out in Portugal. They followed that up with a 2-1 away win in Luxembourg.
Ukraine have recorded a clean sheet in all but two of their last five fixtures. So this is their first home game in the Euro 2020 qualifiers and it is a big important one for them. If they collect three points then it will put them in a massively strong qualification position. It has been a steady start for Serbia in the Euro 2020 qualifiers. They opened with a 1-1 away draw in Portugal. Before that, they had faced Germany in a friendly match and also ended up drawing that game by a 1-1 scoreline as well. Serbia are on an eight-match undefeated streak of form at the moment and they won half of those. So they too are ticking along very nicely at the moment and claimed a group win in the Nations League. Serbia remained unbeaten over their six games and took four victories. That was in a group alongside Lithuania, Romania and Montenegro.
Serbia only conceded four goals in their six Nations League games as well. If Serbia collect a victory out in Ukraine, then that would put them ahead of Portugal, with both of them having played two games each. So that would leave Serbia in a very good position early on. Realistically the two qualification places that are on offer from this group are going to be fought for between Serbia, Portugal and Ukraine. Looking at the other side of this, the defeat here would leave Serbia struggling early on in qualification. There has been no clean sheet in any of their last four games now and Serbia conceded exactly one goal in each game in that sequence. They scored in each of those fixtures themselves though.
