Arsenal Prediction

Arsenal haven’t made the best preparations for this crucial 1st leg of this Europa League semi-final tie in London on Thursday night following three defeats on the trot in the Premier League after losing to Crystal Palace, Wolves and Leicester City.

In each of these last three matches, The Gunners have conceded 3 goals and Unai Emery will be desperate for his side to turn things around on Thursday night in what could prove to be a pivotal opening leg of this two-legged affair against Spanish side, Valencia.

Arsenal will no doubt be keen to take a lead into a 2nd leg for once following back-to-back come from behind wins in the last two rounds of this competition after they trailed BATE 1-0 to come back to win 3-1 on aggregate which was followed by a 4-3 aggregate win against French side, Rennes, after being 3-1 down after the 1st leg.

This time though, Arsenal have first bite of the cherry in terms of home advantage which the hosts will be desperate to make the most of, and having now gone nine matches without defeat at home in this competition, Arsenal will fancy their chances here.

Key-Facts – Arsenal v Valencia

  • Arsenal have won their last 4 home ties to nil on the trot in the Europa League
  • Valencia have lost 3 of their last 7 away ties in the Europa League
  • Valencia have produced mixed results in recent weeks away from home

Valencia Prediction

Arsenal aren’t the only side though to come into this clash on the back of more than one defeat as visitors, Valencia, have suffered recent back-to-back losses to Atletico Madrid and Eibar in La Liga which also isn’t great preparation before their trip to London to face Arsenal in this 1st leg of their semi-final.

Valencia also hold a good set of results in the Europa League though overall as the visitors have won six of their last seven matches in this competition, including a 3-0 aggregate win over Celtic in the round of last 32, Krasnodar 3-2 in the round of 16 and a crushing 5-1 aggregate win over their compatriots, Villarreal, in the quarter-finals.

Valencia are unbeaten in their last three away matches on the trot, but they’ve previously suffered defeats at Basel, Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao in previous campaigns, while overall results away from home in all competitions have produced mixed results in recent weeks.

Betting Tips Verdict

Arsenal know they must get a result here and make the most of home advantage against an inconsistent Valencia side on the road.
