Australia Preview – Will Australia complete the second round with a 100% winning record in tact?
Graham Arnold was appointed back in 2018 with the objective of qualifying Australia for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Taking over from Bert van Marwijk immediately after the World Cup in Russia, Arnold knows exactly the expectation on the national team and he has handled it well so far. This will be Australia’s final game in the second round of qualification and they have yet to drop a point.
Arnold’s men have won all seven matches to date scoring an impressive 27 goals in the process and will top the section regardless of the result here before entering into what they hope will be their final qualification hurdle.

With just four of the second place teams making it through to the third round of qualifying Jordan have an uphill task of being one of them. Currently on 14 points heading into their final game, there are five teams who have a better points tally therefore it looks as though Jordan are going to have to win and hope a couple of their rivals slip-up.
It’s not even guaranteed they finish second in the section either as Kuwait can win their final match and if Australia get the three points (as many expect them to) then Jordan will finish third in their section.

If the latter of those scenarios do occur and even if Jordan do miss out on qualifying for the next stage they will look at the two goalless draws with Kuwait in this group as the biggest frustrations. Even if they won one of these games they would be in a much better position to make it through.
