As we all know, the Scottish football season was cut short last term. Still, Dundee United were well on their way to promotion from the Championship, as they were 14 points clear at the top when the campaign was ended in March.
Robbie Neilson guided United to promotion, but the 40-year-old later left to take over at Hearts, who were relegated from the Premiership. St Johnstone, who are now managed by Callum Davidson, had a fine season under Tommy Wright last term. The popular Wright guided St Johnstone to a sixth-place finish in the Premiership, which will be tough to better this time around. This will be St Johnstone’s 11th successive season in Scotland’s top tier.
The Saints ended last term in excellent form, winning four of their last eight, losing only one of nine. In fact, in 2020, St Johnstone have been beaten just twice in league action – with only Livingston and Celtic getting the better of them.
