An in-form Raith Rovers will be looking to keep pace with the leaders when they travel to face a Hamilton team who have stabilised after a thrashing from Partick Thistle last month.

Hamilton Preview – Can Accies make it four unbeaten as they attempt to stay clear of the relegation zone?

This is the first time Hamilton are playing Championship football since 2014 and they are finding out how difficult life is in the second tier of Scottish football. Brian Rice has lasted under a month before deciding to call time on his spell as Hamilton boss. Stuart Taylor was selected as his replacement and the Irishman’s main objective is simply to keep Accies in the league. That may seem somewhat defeatist considering they were a Premiership club for seven years but it’s the reality.

Despite dropping down from the top-flight the fact remains that Hamilton still have some of the smallest resources available to them and working with one of the smallest, and least experienced, squads.

Our betting prediction
Raith  win/BTTS
(odds taken 2000 GMT, Tuesday 9 November)

Hamilton are currently in seventh spot with 13 points from as many games. It sees them six points clear of Dunfermilne in bottom place but 10 adrift of their weekend opponents who are fourth and occupying the last of the playoff spots. Even at this early stage a push for promotion is already beyond them and they will just hope to consolidate for the seasons ahead.

No team has conceded more home goals than Hamilton who have allowed 13 in seven games. More than half of those came in the one defeat when losing 6-1 at home to Partick Thistle.

Raith Rovers Preview – Will Rovers make it 10 matches unbeaten in the Championship?

Raith were one of the most impressive teams in the Championship last season. Rovers finished third during the regular season but fell short in the playoffs, losing out to Dundee who were the team to be promoted in the end up. John McGlynn’s team could easily have felt sorry for themselves after that disappointment but they are once again pushing some of the more fancied clubs.

A challenging start where they won just one of their first four games appears to have been overcome and Rovers are now looking to extend their unbeaten run to 10 games in the league.

Raith have won five of those games and are only three points off leaders Kilmarnock as a result of that good run. It’s unlikely that Killie (or any other team) are going to run away with the title this time around, however, as Hearts did last season. The top five are separated by just five points.

Rovers form on the road has been particularly impressive. They’re unbeaten in their last five which includes an impressive 3-1 win at Rugby Park. McGlynn will be less happy with drawing way to Dunfermilne and Queen of the South more recently though, with those two teams propping the rest of the league up.

Hamilton vs Raith Rovers Betting Advice

These teams are responsible for what remains the game of the season. A 4-4 draw is remarkable at any time but even more so when one team comes back from four goals down just as Hamilton did. Accies rescued a point with four goals in the final 25 minutes, including the equaliser scored in added time.

A repeat of that would be perfect for the neutral.

Key Facts – Hamilton vs Raith Rovers Betting Tip

  • Hamilton are finding life in the Championship difficult following their relegation last season
  • Raith are three points off the leaders as they chase a sixth win in their last 10 games
  • The teams drew 4-4 on the opening day of the campaign in one of the games of the season

We may not get eight goals but I think we’ll see at least a couple. I’ve noted how fragile Hamilton are in defence and they have the worst goals against in the league. They’re facing a team whose games always seem to produce goals. Raith’s last nine matches have all had both teams scoring and I think this will make it 10 in a row.
