The appointment of Tommy Wright last month has not yet had the desired effect for Kilmarnock. The Rugby Park club are on a run of eight consecutive defeats which started under the reign of Alex Dyer and ultimately ended his time at the club. Wright took charge at the beginning of this month and his first three games in charge have not only ended in defeat, but also without scoring.

Taking it back further, Killie have failed to score in their last five games and with the second lowest total goals in the division, it’s clearly an area which Wright has to improve as he bids to keep Kilmarnock in the Premiership.

As the newly promoted team, Dundee United would have been many people’s pick to be involved in a relegation fight. Particularly so as the coach who took them up left during last summer and his replacement, Micky Mellon, was new to this league. To his credit, however, Mellon has managed to form a team who although not always pretty on the eye, are effective at picking up points.

United have never being overly bothered with the battle at the bottom and instead focusing on trying to finish in the top six which would be an achievement.

Dundee United’s defeat to Rangers last week along with other results means they are now two points behind sixth placed St Mirren. St Johnstone are also involved in that race for sixth and with three games to go it looks set to be a very competitive battle.

Along with Kilmarnock, Dundee United have the lowest number of away wins in the Premiership so far this season with three. Two of those wins came back in August and it was another 12 matches before they won their third – a 2-0 win away to Ross County. Gaining their fourth win here would significantly boost their chances of that top six finish.

Dundee United do not travel well as has been shown. Kilmarnock are in terrible form so it’s hard to put them forward for the win. Instead, go with under 2.5 goals. These teams average less than a goal a game and it should be a very tight encounter.
