Motherwell v Aberdeen Betting Tip Motherwell – 28 February 2018

Motherwell value to beat Aberdeen again

Scottish Premiership Betting Tips

Tuesday 28th February 2018 Kick off 1945hrs Motherwell v Aberdeen Football – Scotland – Scottish Premiership Aberdeen have relinquished their grasp on second place and may well be six points behind Rangers by the time they face Motherwell at Fir Park on Wednesday. It’s now two straight defeats for Derek McInnes’ men and they have not lost three on the bounce in the league since May 2016 For the home team they are just hoping to continue putting the pressure on Kilmarnock and Hearts in the race for a top six spot with their hopes helped somewhat with results at the weekend.

It’s been a positive first full season in charge for Stephen Robinson as Motherwell manager with the club reaching the final of the Scottish League Cup and with a quarter final in the Scottish Cup to come against Hearts at the weekend. The Steelman’s form in the league has been somewhat inconsistent but they are more than capable on their day and are still very much in contention for a finish in the top six, something that would be seen as an achievement for the club. Saturday’s 1-0 win away to Dundee was an excellent result and their first victory away from home in the league since the middle of November, which ironically enough was against Aberdeen. Robinson will be hoping that it is the start of a consistent run of form which sees them climb the table and reach the next round of the Scottish Cup – do that and they are in with a chance of making this a very memorable campaign.

Much has been made of Derek McInnes’ record as Aberdeen boss against the top sides and he would have not been able to escape further attention on that record following a 10th straight defeat to Celtic on Sunday. There was a lot of expectation, and possibly hope, amongst much of Scottish football that Aberdeen could find the winning formula eventually against the champions – it never materialised. Aberdeen had several chances but were unable to convert and were outdone by the superior quality of Celtic. It leaves them a dozen points behind the leaders and three points adrift of Rangers in second. They can ill afford a third straight defeat on Wednesday but Aberdeen fans can take some solace from the fact that as bad as their record has been against the two big Glasgow clubs, they have been supremely consistent against the other teams in the league – and they’ll need to bounce back against Motherwell.

Motherwell v Aberdeen Betting Tip

Motherwell are the only team along with Hibernian to beat Aberdeen this season, outside of Celtic and Rangers. It was a great performance and one they will be looking to replicate, this time in front of their own fans. Aberdeen have struggled for form on the road of late as well which will give their hosts further hope, as the Dons have lost four of their last seven away games in the league. Motherwell have been good at Fir Park for the most part but there is room for improvement and that includes beating some of the top teams in the league – Wednesday night presents another opportunity to do that.

With big quarter final matches in the Scottish Cup to come for both teams, the games will be thick and fast in March and a win on Wednesday would be the perfect tonic to end February on. Motherwell have not quite been able to get over the line against a top four side at home this season but they may just see this as their time against what could be a vulnerable Aberdeen team. Take the home side to record their third win over the Dons this season, adding to the win at Pittodrie in the league and the win at home to them in the League Cup last September.
