Ross County Preview – Will County continue their good form and upset their opponents?

Malky MacKay, a former Celtic player, will be delighted with how his team are performing at the moment. Saturday’s 3-2 win at home to Dundee was not only County’s fourth match unbeaten (two wins and two draws), but the three points also pulled then off the bottom of the table – even if it’s only on goal difference with St Johnstone replacing them at the foot. Three wins in their last six having gone 10 without one is further indication that this team are improving.

The Dingwall club’s only defeat in their last six games was against the other half of Glasgow but they also scored twice at Ibrox in that loss showing that they have the ability to cause the best teams in the Scottish Premiership problems. That will be even more the case playing at home.

(odds taken 2000 GMT, Monday 13 December)

The only time Ross County have failed to score at home so far this season was on the opening day of the campaign in a goalless draw against St Johnstone. Since then they have managed 13 in their last seven home matches which puts them alongside Motherwell and Aberdeen as the joint fourth best home attack in the division.

One of their biggest threats is Regan Charles-Cook. The wide player leads the scoring charts for County with Saturday’s goal taking his tally to five for the season. The previous four had come on the road.

Celtic Preview – Can Celtic make it six straight in the league for the first time in over a year?

December usually tends to be an extremely busy time for Celtic and this year is no different. Sunday’s win over Motherwell was their fourth of the month, one which they will eventually play nine matches in total. Add in the fact they face Rangers on the 2nd of January and you can see how Ange Postecoglou’s squad will be stretched to the max – especially with all the injuries they are accumulating.

The win against’ Well keeps them four points behind the current leaders and means Celtic have now won their last five league games and eight of their last nine in all competitions. Their last three league matches have all been won without conceding a goal and the Hoops can boast the best defensive record in the league with 10 goals shipped in 17 games.

More worryingly for Celtic is the players they are missing at the top end of the park. Jota is likely to be out until next year whilst Kyogo and James Forrest are not expected to be fit for this game. Add to that the injuries to Albian Ajeti and Giorgos Giakoumakis and it will be a makeshift team once again tomorrow.

Celtic also have the small matter of the League Cup final on Sunday where they will face Hibs for the first piece of silverware in Scotland.

Ross County vs Celtic Betting Advice

There’s no doubt Ross County are improving but this will be a huge test for them coming up against a Celtic team who have not lost a domestic game since September. That said, the visitor’s are depleted with injuries and with County holding out until the second half when the two met at Celtic Park earlier this year, before eventually succumbing to a 3-0 defeat, they will be hopeful of being competitive.

That was the seventh straight meeting between the two where only one team has scored.

Key Facts – Ross County vs Celtic Betting Tip

  • Ross County are off the bottom of the table for the first time since the early weeks of the season
  • Celtic are looking for a sixth straight league win to keep pace with leaders Rangers
  • Only one team has scored in the last seven meetings between the two clubs

It’s hard to see that continuing in this one despite Celtic keeping a number of clean sheets of late. County are dynamic in attack and have scored in nine of their last 11 games, and conceding in eight during that run. Take both teams to score here.
