St Mirren, fresh of reaching their second semi-final of the season, take on a Hamilton team who really need a win to keep alive their hopes of staying in the Premiership.

There have been significant disappointments for Jim Good win and his team this season, not least losing to Livingston in the semi-final of the League Cup and missing out in agonising fashion on their first ever top six finish. However, the resilience the Saints have shown in spite of those setbacks is to be commended.
That was on show when coming from behind twice and eventually beating Kilmarnock on penalties on Monday evening, ensuring they reach their second semi-final of the season – this time in the Scottish Cup. They’ll face St Johnstone next month as they attempt to reach the final of that competition for the first time since 1987.
St Mirren return to league action before that and looking to secure seventh places which is their highest possible finish. The Buddies are currently one point ahead of Dundee United with three games to play and have won one and lost one since the split.
The win was their most recent Premiership game when beating another of the relegation-threatened teams in Ross County. They came back from a goal down in that game as well to run out comfortable 3-1 winners and it’s another indication of their class compared to the bottom three – a position they have been so used to in recent seasons.

Accies are bottom of the table and three points behind Ross County, with just games left to play after this encounter. The reason why Hamilton are in the position they are is because of run of nine games without a win. Their last victory was a 4-1 success away to rivals Motherwell back in February. At the time it looked like they were just finding their form, but four points from a possible 27 since has been dire.

Hamilton’s two matches since the break have resulted in 1-0 defeats at home to Dundee United and Motherwell. It is an insight to their season as a whole in that they haven’t been prolific enough in attack and they rarely keep clean sheets.
With Ross County and Kilmarnock still to play there is some hope that Hamilton can find the miracle they need but those games will almost be meaningless if they fail to get a result here and County were to extend their lead over them.
