Peru should avoid defeat at poor Venezuela

VENEZUELA v PERU

Football – World – CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifier Betting Tips

My last pick for the South American World Cup on Thursday night concerns two of the bottom three nations in the CONMEBOL group as hosts and bottom team Venezuela take on third from bottom Peru.

Venezuela sit bottom of the pile with just five points to their name and having lost three of their last four matches, they’re now completely out of even the play-off reckoning and they must now play for just national pride and to finish above second from bottom Bolivia.

The recent defeats were suffered against Uruguay, Brazil and Ecuador and not even home advantage seems to benefit them as they’ve managed just one win on home turf all campaign to date which was a 5-0 romp over the aforementioned Bolivia.

Peru head into this important encounter sitting third from bottom in the CONMEBOL section but they’re five points adrift of fifth placed Argentina, and so therefore they still possess an outside chance of attaining the play-off position if they perform well in the last six matches of the group campaign.

Other results need to go their way, but recent wins over Ecuador at home and away at Uruguay will have given them confidence, as well as holding Argentina to a 2-2 draw at home too. Peru’s away record stands at a disappointing 2-0-4 8/9 but they have managed to register wins at Bolivia and Paraguay.

In addition, for my pick to win in this one, I just need Peru to avoid defeat against a side that have claimed just one win on home soil so far throughout this campaign – which I think they can achieve here.
